One of the things I remember most about growing up was people always having a hard time saying my name. It is easy enough to spell, but the two sounds together, green and ing sort of get swallowed. As a result I was often called “Jamie Greenbean” instead of Jamie Greening. Several years ago someone at church blurted out, “Pastor Greenbean.” Some things never change. When I received my doctorate, I checked to make sure that it didn’t say “Dr. Greenbean!”
In 1999 my family and I came to Port Orchard, Washington on beautiful Puget Sound. We lived there and shared life together with First Baptist Church, where I pastored for 14 years. In the summer of 2013 we moved back to Central Texas where my intention was to write full time. In the midst of that, the Lord called us to Fellowship Baptist Church. I began serving as pastor there in March of 2016. I again have two titles–pastor and writer.
I do not consider myself the authority on anything–except buttermilk biscuits. This blog is an attempt to extend my pastoral ministry as well as entertain, enliven, and maybe even spark some thought.
Thanks for reading!
